I have friends who have known where they wanted to go to college since they were freshmen. I, on the other hand, made my decision well into the second semester of senior year. I always thought I knew where I wanted to go, but then someone would talk about another college and I would become interested in that one. I didn’t want to do the research, I just wanted someone to say, â€Å"Hey, this is a good college. You should go here.† I learned, however, that I had to make that decision for myself.When the second semester of senior year started, I was pretty committed to going to the college in my town. It was close and I knew people who went there, but somehow it didn’t feel right. At my high school, seniors can take a few days off for college visits, so two of my friends and I decided to go to Louisiana College, a private liberal-arts school two hours away. I had heard of it but never given it much thought because it is fairly expensive. The students and staff the re were very helpful, and the campus was quite impressive. After a few hours I knew this was the place I was meant to spend the next four years. I filled out an application just to see what would happen, and a few weeks later I was accepted! I was so excited because I knew this was the right place for me. The cost was still a big issue, however. My parents and I went on a tour and then talked with a representative from the financial aid department. It turned out that I qualified for two scholarships and the woman recommended several others. As the cost became less and less of a problem, the idea of attending this college became more possible.With my scholarships and a few student loans, I’ll actually attend the college of my choice. It took me three and a half years to figure out the right place for me, but in the end I guess it came at just the right time.

They want [lack] information and are constantly liable to be misled.† (The Debate on Representation in Congress 1787). Mr. Sherman is saying that people should not have anything to do with what the government has to do. They only get information wrong and can be misled and misdirected into something that can be bad for the country. Mr. Gerry of Massachusetts believes â€Å"the evils we experience flow from the excess of democracy.† While Mr. Mason of Virginia â€Å"argued strongly for an election of the larger branch by the people.† The representatives of these states viewed different ideas on democracy. Some wanted the people to have more of a say while others wanted to... ...ystem is without the security of a bill of rights. These are objections which are not local, but apply equally to all the states.† (Elbridge Gerry, Letter to President of Senate and Speaker of House of Representatives of Massachusetts, October 18, 1787). Gerry is saying that no government can represent the people, only the people can represent the people. It’s not only in Massachusetts that this problem of representation, it’s all thirteen states. During the time the Constitution was written, the Founding Fathers believed the government was based on property. â€Å"Men who have no property lack the necessary stake in an orderly society to make stable or reliable citizens† (The American Political Tradition). While John Adams said there could be â€Å"no free government without a democratical branch in the constitution† John Jay felt â€Å"The people who own the country ought to govern it.† This proves that there were many mixed feelings about the Constitution, but still, the power went â€Å"from the many to the few†. There are only a hand full of people that can run the country during the time the Constitution was written, and even today, but the ratio between politicians and â€Å"farmers† is great.
